Running 4 Wheelies @ Uluru 2017
Running 4 Wheelies @ Uluru 2017
Story
I completed the Australian Outback Marathon at Uluru in 6 hours 47 minutes & 2 seconds. It was 31 degrees, windy and the course very sandy. However, the experience was unforgettable.
I have raised my fundraising target from $15,000 to $20,000. I have 2 half-marathons to run this year
In 2014 I ran 1 marathon & raised $11,500
In 2016 I ran 3 marathons & 3 half-marathons & raised $25,000
This year I've run the Canberra marathon and the Australian Outback marathon!

I'm running to raise funds for Wheelchair Sports NSW. Did you know that 1 in 5 Australians have a disability? Perhaps not, but obviously you are aware of how sport can create a sense of inclusivity & belonging. Look at the happy faces of the Junior Wheelies at their annual camp in the photo below & you will appreciate how sport can bring people together. A specialised sporting wheelchair costs upwards of $2,000. A liitle bit more than a pair of footy boots..
So why do I run? Everyone of us has a story to tell. I'm fortunate that my story was published in the Sunday Daily Telegraph last year.
In addition to the Uluru Marathon (29th July 2017) I'm also running:
Orange half-marathon 26th February 2017
Canberra marathon 9th April 2017
Bathurst half-marathon 7th May 2017
Sydney Morning Herald half-marathon 21st May 2017
Australian Outback Marathon 29th July 2017
Sydney Blackmores half-marathon 17th September 2017
Central Coast half-marathon November 2017
Donations made through this platform are secure and will be remitted directly through to my charity of choice.
Supported by
Wheelchair Sports NSW
Wheelchair Sports NSW, formed in 1961, is a non-profit organisation responsible for the development, promotion and delivery of wheelchair sport in NSW.
Our vision – to enrich the lives of people with a disability through participation in sport.
Sport is a powerful rehabilitation tool for those who have suffered catastrophic injury, and a strong integrating force for those with a disability living in a predominately able bodied society. For many individuals, participation in wheelchair sport is an important pathway to social connection, forming lifelong friendships, increasing confidence, social skills and education, and increasing overall motivation, determination and courage.
WS NSW provide sporting programs, wheelchairs, facilities, financial assistance and professional support staff for people with physical disability (ranging from spinal cord injury, spina bifida, amputation, paraplegia, quadriplegia to other similar disabling conditions), from 8-80 years of age to enjoy the benefits of involvement in sport at all stages, beginner to elite.
