Hey hey,
So I have taken up the challenge to complete the Medibank half marathon (21.1kms) this October and all funds I raise will go to the Australian Conservation Foundation. The Australian Conservation Foundation was formed 50 years ago by a small handful of people who banded together when oil drilling and mining first threatened the Great Barrier Reef. Now the ACF community has grown and actively protects the places Australians love – like the reef, the Kimberley, the Daintree, Kakadu and Fraser Island. Today, they continue to protect the reef as well as our Great Dividing Range, our rivers, forests and the beautiful north! We are all interconnected in the web of life, from the tiniest archae through to the Leadbeater's Possum - we make up the fantastic biodiversity of our World. However, our world is not invincible against humanities actions and sometimes we like to think some of our smallest actions have no effect - though I know your donation to this foundation will contribute (even so slight) a positive effect for our future, our world's future.

One last thing I ask of you all is to read this next paragraph, if you feel inspired please take action and ask for Primier Daniel Andrews to make haste with the formation of the Great Forest National Park. These forests are the precious home to the official Victorian faunal emblem, the Leadbeater's Possum. With population numbers so low, an estimated 1,500 survive in the wild - furthermore, 45% of the possum's habitat was destroyed in the 2009 fires. We cannot allow for further destruction to the possums already limited habitat. It may only be one species, though our country has already lost 10% of mammals since it was invaded. This makes it one of the highest rates of extinction recorded (something that as an Australian I am VERY ashamed of). The time for change is NOW! Say 'NO' to native logging!
