Running a Marathon for a Fighting Chance
Running a Marathon for a Fighting Chance
Story
For people with a disability, finding a job can be incredibly hard. Only around 50 per cent of the 2.6 million Australians with a physical disability are actually in the workforce. But a charity called Fighting Chance in Sydney's Northern Beaches is trying to improve those figures.
Fighting Chance is a youth-led NFP organisation providing employment opportunities and life experiences to young people with physical disabilities.
I am lucky enough to have gone to university with the Operations Director and co-founder of Fighting Chance Jordan O'Reilly. Jordan, his sister Laura and their team at Fighting chance put in endless hours of effort towards helping people with disabilities find work.
This year for the Sydney Running Festival I will be running in the Marathon (42km!!!) for Fighting Chance. This will be the biggest physical challenge I have put myself through to date!
I know what Laura and Jordan are doing is making a huge difference and I hope that you are able to give a small donation to go towards this worthy cause.
If you would like to know more about Fighting Chance and what they do please visit their website: www.fightingchance.org.au
