Story
"Back in January 2021 myself and the Kelly Batt Health Fitness team decided to sign up for the Guzzler 100km. Something that we have never done before!
My dear friend Kelly and I decided it would be a fantastic idea to raise money for a charity. Kelly's grandad suffered a stroke in 2006, and my uncle passed away in 2020 suffering a stroke so the Stroke Foundation was already a charity close to our heart..
I would like to share Kelly's story below-
"Sadly, just over a week ago my Dad unexpectedly suffered a stroke. In that moment our lives turned upside down. My Dad’s a kind, gentle and caring man, he’s very determined (that’s where I get it from!).
Being on the other side of the world alongside COVID has its complications, however video calling has been incredible. Seeing his face light up when he see’s us, being here to support Mum and doing everything I can for Dad. This wouldn’t be possible without the help of the nurses at the hospital and all of the work that the Stroke Foundation does.
When I set out planning the Guzzler, I never thought I would be writing this story.
Now, every step we take in training and in the 100km is dedicated to raising money to support the Stroke Foundation. My Dad means everything to me and I will do everything I can so that Dad makes a full recovery ready to walk me down the aisle next year."
