Pre-School For a Year
Pre-School For a Year
Story
Dear All
Thank you very much for your generous support during my 'marathon effort.' We ended up supporting 100 children to attend pre-school at Kakuma Refugee Camp, Kenya, which is quite amazing. You have made a life-changing contribution to the life of these vulnerable children. My marathon went really well. Leading up to the marathon, I trained for almost 2000 km and 170 hours, over seven months. The fact that we were raising funds for the kids at Kakuma, was a huge motivating factor, not only during my long-hours of training, but during the hard kilometres of the marathon itself.
I completed the marathon in 3 hours and 35 minutes, which was five minutes slower than my goal time of 3:30, but I am very happy with this result. I started a little too fast, completing the first half marathon in 1:42 and then suffered a fair bit during the second half, but overall, it went almost perfectly and according to plan.
Thank you again. Needless to say, I couldn't have done this without your very generous support.
Regards, Mark.

Hi there!
I'm running my first marathon on 3 July (Gold Coast Marathon) and fundraising for a cause that's close to my heart. I'm not only running a kilometre for every kilogram I've lost in weight over the last ten years (42km and 42kg), I'm aiming to send one child to pre-school in Kakuma refugee camp, Kenya, for a year, for every kilometre I run on the day. That's 42km and therefore 42 children in pre-school for a year, through Australian Lutheran World Service and the Lutheran World Federation. Your donation also goes towards providing training for pre-school teachers. I appreciate your donation, no matter how big or small, but most of all, so will the children at Kakuma refugee camp in Kenya. For them it will be life changing!
Donations made through this platform are secure and will be remitted directly through to my charity of choice.
Thanks so much for your support!
