GI Cancer fundraiser - No Gutsy No Glory
GI Cancer fundraiser - No Gutsy No Glory
Story
Hi there!
We're making a difference and running for a cause that's close to our hearts. We’d appreciate any contribution, big or small.
We've had two Gastro-Intestinal cancers impact our families. My Dad, Garry Mettam was diagnosed with Oesophageal cancer in September 2018, losing his battle to the cancer in July 2019. Daniel was diagnosed not long after Garry, in December 2018 with Stage 4 bowel cancer. Dan has received comprehensive care, management and monitoring since this time.
Instead of a thank you card to the specialists involved, we're giving back to this cause, by fundraising for GI Cancer Institute. Dan’s oncologist has received research grant funding from this organization. Research funded through this organization helps to improve outcomes and life quality for those with GI cancers including oesophageal, stomach, pancreatic and bowel.
UPDATE: Daniel did amazing with the half marathon distance, 21.1Km in 2hours 13 minutes!.
The next event is the Darwin City2Surf on October 18 — we now have TEAM “No Gutsy No Glory”. Joe & Erin Mettam, Nikki and Anthony McCourt, Gabby Kelly, Mel Watters, Nicole Manison & Jemma Wood. We also have some champion youngsters in the mini surfer event - Emma Schultz, Andy Mettam, Ben Harrington and Evie McCourt.
Donations made through this platform are secure and will be remitted directly through to the GI Cancer Institute.
Thanks so much for your support!
From Marion & Daniel Schultz
