Story
I plan to run the Medibank Melbourne Marathon, Sunday 15th of October 2017 to raise much needed funds for a charity I hold so close to my heart, the National Breast Cancer Foundation.
My Grandmother, Bo, passed away from a long battle with Breast Cancer two days before I was to participate in this event in 2015. Bo was an incredible Grandmother and a truly remarkable woman who fought Breast Cancer for over 20 years. During this time, the amount of strength, resilience, and positivity she possessed has inspired me to do something I know she would be proud of.
While many of you are aware and have heard of this charity, the statistics show that 8 women die from Breast Cancer every day and 1 in 8 women will be diagnosed during their lifetime in Australia. Breast Cancer affects the lives of many women and men in Australian and unfortunately, it will continue to do so for many years to come. In today’s society it has become so common to know someone who has or is still fighting their battle with Breast Cancer. So….
