Running the City2Surf for Project Futures

Dear family and friends,

As many of you know I am a competitive runner and this year I am participating the biggest fun run in Australia; CITY2SURF on Sunday August 10^th 2014. I have decided to run as a member of the Project Futures team, a charity aimed to end human trafficking in Australia and across the world. Project futures raises awareness and funding for programs dedicated to combating human trafficking and sexual exploitation globally.

What is Human Trafficking? Human Trafficking is a crime against humanity. It involves the recruitment of persons through force, coercion, deception or abduction for the purpose of their exploitation. Victims of human trafficking are found working in industries such as construction, hospitality, sex industry, agriculture and domestic cleaning. This is a global issue, approximately 20-30 million women and men live as slaves in the world today. Behind drugs and weapons, human trafficking is the 3^rd largest crime industry in the world.

Project Futures is an incredible cause, whom work closely with the Somaly Mam foundation to rescue girls from the industry in Cambodia and bring them to a safe house, where they are rehabilitated and educated. Project Futures also works hand in hand with the Salvation Army to provide accommodation for victims of trafficking, these clients crisis and long term assistance here in Australia.

My goal is to raise $400 for project futures, any donation to help me reach this goal is very valuable as it goes towards helping women, men and children in slavery around the world and provide assistance to them after they are free.

PROJECT FUTURES is a non-profit organisation run by a passionate network of young and inspiring professionals. We raise awareness and funding for programs dedicated to combat human trafficking and sexual exploitation globally. We encourage like-minded individuals to actively use their skills and talents to contribute to make a difference. The money raised contributes to the funding of rescue, recovery, education and reintegration of victims and survivors as well as advocacy for the cause. 

Our Objectives:

1. The raise awareness about the issue of human trafficking and sexual exploitation through innovative activities 

2. To raise funds to support anti-trafficking projects in Australia and around the world

3. To influence and empower the next generation to donate their time, skills and talents for worthy causes, which positively impact their global environment.
