Bounding Plains to Share
Bounding Plains to Share
Story
Starting in November 2017, Cassie Cohen and Jackson Bursill are running 4000km from Cooktown to Melbourne, hoping to create a platform to share Asylum Seeker stories and bring a bit humanity back to the conversation around asylum seekers in this country. The project also hopes to raise funds for the Asylum Seeker Resource Centre. The ASRC provides vital legal assistance to support asylum seekers through the uncertainty of visa determination. The centre also provides education and health services to asylum seekers, helping them to overcome the challenges of adapting to living in a new country and culture. For many, the centre is the first and only resource they have to help them through the stressful process of resettlement. The centre empowers our newest Australian’s to find their feet, settle into the community and ultimately, to contribute to the diversity that gives our society strength.
Donations made through this platform are secure and will be remitted directly through to the ASRC. Donations are Tax Deductible and Tax receipts will be issued.
Thank you for supporting our quest to Bound our Plains to Share and fund the work of the Asylum Seeker Resource Centre.
ASRC Footscray (Asylum Seeker Resource Centre)
The Asylum Seeker Resource Centre (ASRC) is both a place and a movement.
As an independent not for profit organisation, we are owned and run by our community. Our programs empower people seeking asylum to maximise their own physical, mental and social well-being. As a movement, we mobilise and unite communities to create lasting social and policy change for people seeking asylum in Australia.
We assist over 7,000 people seeking asylum each year from our centres in Footscray and Dandenong, Victoria.
