Story

Hi there!

Lorne 160 is a 160km run from Geelong Grammar School to Lorne, run by students in alternating 5km legs. Since 1991, Lorne 160 has been Geelong Grammar's primary fundraising event, previously raising in excess of $50,000 for charities such as Geelong Food Relief, Ladder Geelong and Time for Youth, all making huge differences within the local community. This year, I and the Lorne 160 team aim to raise at least $50,000 for OrangeSky Laundry and thus provide another van for this amazing charity to help improve the lives of homeless people in Geelong by giving them clean clothes and someone to talk to. As part of my contribution to Lorne 160, I aim to cover at least 25 kilometres of the run.

Donations made through this platform are secure and will be remitted directly through to OrangeSky Laundry Australia.

Thanks so much for your support!

Orange Sky Australia (ORANGE SKY LAUNDRY INC)

Orange Sky Australia is the world’s first free mobile laundry service for people experiencing homelessness – an idea founded in a Brisbane garage by two 20-year-old mates, Nic Marchesi and Lucas Patchett. In late 2014, the boys installed a couple of washing machines and dryers in the back of their old van and visited parks around Brisbane to wash and dry clothes for free. What started as an idea to improve hygiene standards and restore dignity to people doing it tough has evolved into something much bigger and more powerful. Orange Sky has now grown to 36 services in 25 locations across Australia and has provided Australians doing it tough with over 2 million kilograms of free laundry, 20,000 showers and 330,000 hours of genuine and non-judgemental conversation across 36 service locations.
