Hi there!
Thanks for visiting our GoFundraise page! We're a team of likeminded individuals who share a common goal to raise important funds for Pancreatic Cancer research and awareness initiatives for the Avner Pancreatic Cancer Foundation.
Research funded by the money we raise will significantly change the lives of people like Hunter Valley local, husband, and father of a 12 year old son, Dean Gorddard, who was diagnosed with advanced stage pancreatic cancer just over two years ago. Pancreatic cancer is the 10th most commonly diagnosed cancer type in Australia, yet it maintains the poorest survival rate of any cancer globally. In Australia the average life-span post diagnosis is just 12-14 months; the five-year survival rate for pancreatic cancer in Australia is just 7%.
No matter how big or small, all donations towards research count. So far we've raised over $77,000 dollars - just $23,000 shy of our $100,000 target, which if we reach it will help Avner fund a research grant in Dean's name.
